Privacy Policy

The short version

Nebulis is a desktop and mobile app that runs on your own devices. It connects to your smart telescope on your local network and stores your library and settings on your device. We don't run a backend that collects your data, and we don't sell anything to anyone.

What we don't collect

• We don't have user accounts. There is nothing to sign up for.
• We don't collect your name, email, address, or payment information.
• We don't upload your photos, sessions, or telescope data to our servers.
• We don't sell, rent, or share personal data, because we don't have any.
• We don't use advertising trackers or third-party analytics on our app.

What stays on your device

Your image library, captured frames, observation log, wishlist, and app preferences live on the device where Nebulis is installed. If you sync between devices, that happens over your own local network or storage you control. We never see it.

Network requests Nebulis makes

To do its job, the app talks to a few services. None of these are us:

• Your smart telescope, over your local Wi-Fi, to fetch images and control the scope.
• Weather and sky data providers, to show forecast and seeing information. The request includes your approximate location so the forecast is accurate.
• Astronomical catalogs and sky surveys, to enrich objects with reference images and metadata (Messier, NGC, IC, Sharpless).
• App and OS update checks, handled by the platform you installed Nebulis on (App Store, Google Play, Microsoft Store, etc.).

Each of those services has its own privacy practices. We try to send them as little as possible: typically just a location for weather and an object identifier for catalog lookups.

Location

If you grant location permission, Nebulis uses it to calculate altitude curves, sunset times, and sky forecasts for where you actually are. The location is used on your device and sent to the weather provider for that lookup. We don't store it.

This website

nebulis.app is a static marketing site. It doesn't set tracking cookies and doesn't run third-party analytics. Standard web server logs (IP address, user agent, page requested) may be recorded by our hosting provider for a short time for security and debugging; those logs aren't tied to any account.

Children

Nebulis is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

Because the app stores everything locally, you control your data directly: delete the app, clear its storage, or remove individual library entries from inside it. There's nothing on our end to request deletion of.

Changes

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page and note what changed. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
